Prayag nagri

                           Prayag nagri

Prayag is a Sanskrit word meaning confluence - sangam. The most famous in India is the Triveni Sangam - Ganga, Yamuna and (hidden) Saraswati at Allahabad. It is called Prayagraj- the king amongst Prayags.
There are many small and big sangams in the Himalayas. The more well known are the Panch Prayags- Devprayag, Karnaprayag, Rudraprayag, Nandaprayag and Vishnuprayag. These are at various heights and places in Uttarakhand, and constitute small and big tributaries of the Bhagirathi, which eventually becomes the Ganga when it reaches the plains. Each of these are considered extremely holy, and are also overwhelmingly beautiful.
